Barclay, Ian

Feb 24, 1973 - Dec 14, 2023

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ian Thomas
Barclay on December 14th, 2023, at the age of 50. Born on February 24th, 1973, in
Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Ian spent his formative years in Hudson (formerly known as Como),
Quebec. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and June Barclay (Millsteed), and his
eldest sister, Anne Barclay. Ian is survived by his brother, Shawn, his sisters, Molly and Karen,
his son, Liam, and his nieces and nephews: Jordan, Julia, Oliver, Charlotte, Morgan, and Ethan.
As the youngest of five siblings, Ian maintained close and unconditional bonds with each of
them, despite the variance in their ages. Known for his unwavering compassion and love for all,
Ian approached life with passion and enthusiasm. His diverse interests ranged from sports and
horseback riding to motorcycle excursions and golf, the latter of which he embraced later in life
alongside his son, Liam. Ian took joy in the simple pleasures, often opting for the scenic route
over the efficient one. Renowned for his ability to bring smiles to faces at any cost and his
adeptness at hands-on problem-solving, he will be remembered fondly by those who had the
privilege of knowing him. In honor of a life well-lived, a commemorative gathering will be held in
Spring 2024 in Ian’s hometown of Hudson, Quebec. Your heartfelt condolences are graciously
welcomed, and you are invited to share your sentiments at (insert link). In lieu of floral tributes,
we kindly suggest considering contributions to support the invaluable work of Diabetes Canada
at www.diabetes.ca. Your thoughtful gestures will not only honor the memory of our loved one
but also contribute to a cause close to their heart.
