Barclay, Ian

Feb 24, 1973 - Dec 14, 2023

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ian Thomas
Barclay on December 14th, 2023, at the age of 50. Born on February 24th, 1973, in
Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Ian spent his formative years in Hudson (formerly known as Como),
Quebec. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and June Barclay (Millsteed), and his
eldest sister, Anne Barclay. Ian is survived by his brother, Shawn, his sisters, Molly and Karen,
his son, Liam, and his nieces and nephews: Jordan, Julia, Oliver, Charlotte, Morgan, and Ethan.
As the youngest of five siblings, Ian maintained close and unconditional bonds with each of
them, despite the variance in their ages. Known for his unwavering compassion and love for all,
Ian approached life with passion and enthusiasm. His diverse interests ranged from sports and
horseback riding to motorcycle excursions and golf, the latter of which he embraced later in life
alongside his son, Liam. Ian took joy in the simple pleasures, often opting for the scenic route
over the efficient one. Renowned for his ability to bring smiles to faces at any cost and his
adeptness at hands-on problem-solving, he will be remembered fondly by those who had the
privilege of knowing him. In honor of a life well-lived, a commemorative gathering will be held in
Spring 2024 in Ian’s hometown of Hudson, Quebec. Your heartfelt condolences are graciously
welcomed, and you are invited to share your sentiments at (insert link). In lieu of floral tributes,
we kindly suggest considering contributions to support the invaluable work of Diabetes Canada
at www.diabetes.ca. Your thoughtful gestures will not only honor the memory of our loved one
but also contribute to a cause close to their heart.

I remember Ian fondly, he was always so cheerful and sweet to me, we talked often about life and the joys in our kids. I remember delivering him a cake for his birthday to his address(which was his girlfriends place) we later laughed about it since he wasn’t there.
He rode horses at Dwight’s place and we shared many memories and fond moments of our passion and joy of riding and how we miss it.
I worked with him for a while and was sad when he found a new career elsewhere as I couldn’t see him or say good morning/ good afternoon anymore.

I am very sad to be seeing this, but I want his family to know how much joy he brought to every day life with everything he did.
I send love to you and your family during this time,

Ian was a great friend we spent lots of time together, having bonfires, doing puzzles, watching football or just sitting around. It comes as a shock that he is gone. The las time I saw he said he was starting to feel better. Me and Travis will me him dearly as we were suppose to spend Christmas together watching football. Ian we love you and you are forever missed!!! If someone from the family could tell us what happened and provide us with any info on a funeral it would be greatly appreciated.

I met (uncle) Ian in February 2009 over Jordan’s birthday celebrations— Molly had rented the most gorgeous cottage, Jordan was on the 94.7 Hits squad working the slopes of Owl’s Head, Liam was like 10 yrs old (or whatever, YOUNG) accompanied by Ian, and I had the privilege of sharing just an epic day of skiing and celebrating life with them all.
I don’t remember much more except What a man! Outgoing, spontaneous, deep, funny & there’s no way some of his zest for life didn’t rub off on you a little…
Rest in peace, Ian; love, hugs & strength to everyone who loved him left behind. XO

Ian was just one of those people. He made your heart glad anytime you saw him. I remember the day he was born and how excited we all were to have this unexpected joy of a newborn in the house! He has laced my life with a thread of love that I will never forget. Ian especially showed me the importance of the anchor of family and I feel so glad he spent so much time with me in what turned out to be the last months of his life. I know how deeply he loved. Thank you Liam for this thoughtful tribute – You were so especially important to him Much love, Karen
