Peacefully surrounded by family in hospital on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the age of 61. Predeceased by his wife, Kim Sampson (nee Rousom). Loving father of Lauren Hare (Sean) and Erin Lapensee (Adam). Precious Grandpa “Mike” to Conner, Alexandra, Shawna and Great Grandpa “Mike” to Mason. Son of the late Joseph Francis “Frank” and Theresa “Joan“ Sampson. Will be dearly missed by his siblings Bob Sampson (Sue), Linda Cheesman (Tom), Carol Sampson, David Sampson and his many nieces and nephews. Will be profoundly missed by Clyde Ballard, Louise Ballard and Sylvie Janvier. Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, candor and his ability to do just about anything with a Backhoe. A riveting car enthusiast and tradesman to his core. His illness was not going to get the best of him so he would tell you that the illness left his body when he went out therefore making it a tie which in his books means he won! He was ready to meet his maker we are just not entirely sure that the maker is ready to meet him! Although we will miss his presence deeply, we feel blessed to have had this amazing man throughout our lives. Special thanks to the Ottawa General Hospital staff for their gentle and attentive care while Dad/Mike battled illness over the past several years. A private gathering of immediate family was Mike’s wish.
