Jan 17, 1979 - Apr 09, 2024
With great sadness and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Melissa Acheson on April 9th, 2024.
Melissa was the much-loved only daughter of Shelley Jackson. She leaves behind her amazing son Levi Hill who was the light of her life. She was the daughter of Ken Acheson and sibling to Heather and Kevin and families. Melissa is survived by her Grandmother Doreen Jackson, Aunt Wendy, Uncle Logan, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Donna, Uncle Ted, Aunt Fran, Aunt Joyce, Uncle Blaine, Aunt Beth, many cousins and their families, many other loving extended family members and Wendy Calcutt. She is also survived by Levi’s father Shawn, Natasha and Paul and family and Tom Hill.
In December 2021 after suffering a lot of pain, and shuffling through the medical system, Melissa was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her bones, lungs and liver. The prognosis was grim, but we hoped that treatment would help to give her more time.
Radiation helped ease the pain of the bone cancer and Melissa started the first of many chemotherapy treatments. She endured so much for all of 2022, 2023 and the first few months of 2024. When she was told that the chemotherapy was no longer working, we sought out other options and Melissa bravely got through surgeries and trips to hospitals.
While recovering from her last surgical intervention she suffered a fall and after a scan it was revealed that the cancer had spread to her brain. She bravely got through full brain radiation always hoping for more time. Sadly, the cancer had taken over and won the battle Melissa so bravely fought.
Melissa had many dear friends and they helped her immensely with love, support, visits, rides for appointments, fund raising and so much more. Thank you so much to all of you. Thank you everyone for the cards, meals, donations and support for Levi and I.
There will be a celebration of life at Harrison Park in Owen Sound May 26th, 2024. In lieu of flowers donations to the go fund me account set up to support Levi would be appreciated.
