Alf had an interesting and diverse career with Transport Canada. Starting out in Radio Operations, his job took him to many exciting places; Resolute Bay, Churchill, The Pas, Prince Rupert, Toronto to many airports across Canada in smaller communities where radio operations, weather data  obtained and sent via telex. He also worked in the field of Glaciology on ice fields, glaciers, on the N.B. McLean Ice Breaker sailing the North West Passage, on DC4’s mapping and charting ice. Before retiring, his knowledge took him into regulations of Air Traffic Control with several conferences in Geneva and Paris.

With his love of hockey, he spent many long hours in cold arenas watching his children play hockey.  A private memorial for family and friends will be held.  If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to ALS Research or Shepherds of Good Hope.

Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff for their compassionate care at the Civic Hospital NeuroScience Floor.
