Nov 22, 1941 - Sep 27, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Ronald Gordon Spalding at the age of 80, of Ottawa formerly of Sarnia-Lambton. He passed away peacefully at his residence of Ogilvie Villa surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. The broken hearts he leaves behind belong to his children, David Spalding (Melissa Coleman) of Mount Brydges, Crystal (Bart) Baker of Mooretown, Debra (David Wu) Spalding of Ottawa; his treasured grandchildren, Marissa and Mckenna. Ron was the loving brother of Carol (Ron) Chalk, Lynn (Bill) Deane. Ron will be deeply missed by his niece and nephews, Heather, Paul, Ryan and Brett. He will be reunited with his parents Gord and Doris Spalding and by his wife Nora (Gay) Spalding. He will be missed by many wonderful special friends.
Ron retired from Polysar Rubber Corporation, a factory established in Sarnia, Ontario, after 25 years of service. He was a kindhearted man, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, hunting, and especially his favourite fishing which led him to become a lifetime member of the Bluewater Anglers and hatchery volunteer. He was an accomplished pilot and in his earlier years, he would always enjoy the flights he took with his father around Lambton County. You certainly will be missed, Dad! No matter how much pain, we kept reminiscing about wonderful memories which always brought a smile to his face. He taught us to love the outdoors and to be kind and respectful to others.
He was a well liked and respected man. He loved to dance and listen to music. He was everyone’s dancing buddy at the Ogilvie Villa. The residents and staff will certainly miss Ron’s caring and kind spirit as well as his politeness, even when he was in major pain he still said, “I’m not too bad, how are you? “.
You battled with Parkinson’s disease that attacked your whole body. May you now Rest In Peace where you are out of pain and can enjoy dancing, fishing, hunting and flying again. In our hearts forever, until we meet again!
Cremation has already taken place and a graveside service will be held at Alvinston Cemetery, 2879 Cameron Rd, Alvinston on Sat. Oct 15 at 2:00 pm and a gathering following at Riverstone Restaurant, Alvinston for close friends and family.
