Lawrence Edward St. Denis, lovingly known as Sonny, passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family at the Ottawa Heart Institute.

Born on November 2, 1948, in Cornwall, Ontario, Sonny lived a life marked by hard work, quick wit, and quiet strength. He was a devoted lifelong partner to Kelley Murray and a proud father to Lisa St. Denis, Joey St. Denis, Ashlee Murray, and Justin Murray.

He is survived by his grandchildren Hudson Rowan, Gabrielle, Taylor, Nicholas, Jacob, Korrin, Jhonse, and Bryden and his great-grandchildren Sophia and Callahan. Sonny leaves behind his sisters Beverly Fletcher and Kathleen Tyo as well as his many nieces and nephews. Sonny will be deeply missed by his good friends Gino, Jeff and Brody.

He is predeceased by his father, Lawrence St. Denis Sr., and his mother, Mary St. Denis (née King).

Sonny was known for his kind heart, soft demeanour, and infectious smile. He was incredibly resourceful and had a rare gift for fixing anything and everything. No matter the problem, Sonny could be counted on to figure it out. His strong work ethic defined him, but it was his gentle nature and unwavering support for his family that truly set him apart.

He found his greatest joy spending time with family and friends, working on his truck, fixing things around the house and enjoying quiet moments at home or countryside car rides with his loyal sidekick, Shadow, his beloved black goldendoodle.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial will be scheduled at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.

Sonny leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, generosity, and warmth that will live on in all who knew him.
