Oct 16, 1943 - Aug 07, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Colleen Mary Ferris (Corkery), who left us on August 7, 2025 at the age of 81. Born on October 16, 1943, Colleen was the cherished daughter of Edmund Peter and Mary Loretta Genevieve (Whelan) Corkery. She was the dear and beloved wife of the late James (Jimmy) Ferris, whom she loved dearly.
A devoted and encouraging mother, she was endlessly proud of her children Kelly and Jamie. She held a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law Leanne. She was also the loving Nanny to her cherished grandchildren—Marshall and Taylor (Darin) McDonald, Samantha and Jacob Ferris—whom she adored deeply.
She is survived by her loving sisters Nora (the late Nick) Costantini and Rita Tremblay, and was predeceased by her siblings Paul (Jean), Leonard (Lorna), Earl (Alice), Lawrence, Phyllis Hubert (Lou), Michael (Joan), Irene Creppin (Kenneth), Joe, Kenny and Eddy. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends, who were each touched by her warmth and loving presence. Colleen’s legacy of love, laughter, gentleness, and devotion to her family lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Colleen was a true family-oriented woman who took great pride in the accomplishments of those she loved. She was always there with a kind word, a warm hug, and constant encouragement. Her energy, humour, and compassion will be remembered and cherished forever. Colleen was a kind, gentle, and loving soul who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Sweet, thoughtful, and caring by nature, she had a heart that embraced all. Her easy-going spirit and infectious laughter lit up every room, and she truly enjoyed laughing with others, always finding joy in shared moments.
A celebration of life for Colleen will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at St. Basil’s Church, 940 rex Ave, Ottawa. The family will receive condolences from 10:15am-11am with a mass at 11am, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be held at 2:30pm at Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank St, Gloucester. In Memoriam, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Ruddy Shenkman Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Stillwater Retirement Home and Ruddy Shenkman Hospice for their compassionate care and support. We are deeply grateful to the dedicated doctors, nurses, personal support workers (PSWs), volunteers, and support staff who walked alongside us with such kindness during this journey.
