Yvonne Jamont

Nov 05, 1950 - Apr 27, 2023

With heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of dearest Yvonne on April 27th after a courageous fight with cancer. Wife to Gerry, Mom to Paul and Jan and loving grandma to Josie, Kiara, Anna and Ben. She also leaves behind sister Agnes and brother Norman. Born and raised in British Columbia she moved with her family to Ottawa in 1986. Here she launched into a career in Real Estate which she loved and did for more than 35 years. Her west coast tastes were a big part of her, particularly her penchant for spotted prawns and Dungeness crab. Yvonne loved being grandma. She took so much joy in being with her grandkids, telling stories, doing handicrafts and simply enjoyed watching them grow up.  A passionate gardener, she really loved planting things and digging in the dirt as well as successfully growing dahlias, an indoor herb garden and several outside garden projects which gave her a deep senses of joy and accomplishment . An avid reader all her life she always chose books over TV.

She also took pride in her talents for baking, everything from brownies to exotic deserts and even her own recipe for ice cream. Yvonne was active in the Kanata United church as a member of the social committee. She also encouraged her granddaughters to join the choir

At hear she was generous and kind always ready to help out when called.

Goodbye my love. You will live in our hearts for always.

A funeral service will be held on May 11th at 2.00 pm at the Kanata United Church, 33 Leacock Drive Kanata

I just wanted to pass along very late condolences. I just tried to reach out to Yvonne and had a feeling. Yvonne was very helpful to me and my family back in 2018 trying to find my family places to live. She went above and beyond for me as I live in California. She was such a pleasure to work with. I naturally assumed Yvonne would beat cancer as she was such a beacon of positivity. What a great loss. My deepest, heart felt condolences to her family and friends.

My heartfelt condolences to Gerry, Paul and Jan.
I have very fond memories of Yvonne from my early years in Vancouver. Yvonne and Gerry welcomed me into their home in North Vancouver as a young 23 year old student. Yvonne introduced me to city life and became my big sister, a confident, a shoulder to cry on and a great friend. She made me my first martini. I haven’t had much contact with her since she left Vancouver but I pass by her old house
and am reminded of fond memories. ❤️‍🩹
