Passed away on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Victorine (Nee Gunn), brother Lorne (late Marcelle) and brother Brian (Carol). She will be missed by her siblings; Bruce (Helen), Sharon (Late Des) O’Brien, Stephen (Debbie) and Wayne (Donna), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to thank The Perley Senior Apartments and Garry J Armstrong Long Term Care Facility for the superb care given to Gayle over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, in memory of Gayle, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, a private service will be organized by the family.
I was very sad to hear of Gayle passing and I feel even more sad to not have had to opportunity to visit this spring as intended. Gayle was an amazing person, so full of life, spirit and spunk. I miss our Saturday mornings at the Race Track for breakfast a quick spin at the slots (where Gayle always won) then off to shopping or the nearest garage sale. Anywhere for the best bargain!
We also had many fun shopping trips south of the border. In particular I remember one that I was sworn never to tell. About 15 minutes before crossing the border on a bus trip, she pulls out her passport and then frantically elbows me. I look over and what do I see, a passport belonging to her sister Sharon! She had accidentally picked up the wrong passport. A million scenarios are flitting through my mind. Should we jump out at the border and stay on the Canadian side for the day? Will we end up in a US jail? But after a few terrifying minutes I said, just pretend nothing is wrong. Just hand it to the border agent boarding the bus. If she says something plead ignorance, like a confused little old lady and hopefully we won’t get thrown in jail. Amazingly enough, she looked at the photo and Gayle and said thank you Sharon and that was it! UNBELIEVABLE AMAZING LUCK!
My son has great memories of his favourite Auntie. Like most of the kids, there was always a bag full of surprises every visit, with everything from socks, to toys to candy and hockey cards. She took him to one of favourite haunts “the Ex” for many years, and was the greatest cheering section at many of his hockey games.
Thank you for being such a great friend and sister-in-law and Auntie , Gayle. Say hi to Brian for Lee and I.

I am really sad to read of Gayle’s passing, she was always so funny without intending to be, which made it even funnier. I remember one time years and years ago when we were driving on Bank Street in her car and she hit a telephone pole. Instead of being upset, Gayle just said “Oh, leave it to Beaver”, and carried on driving. Gayle was always so kind to stay in touch with Mom, who is 97 now and still at the Elisabeth Bruyere Residence. While Gayle will be missed, I’m sure I heard the joyous laughter from Uncle Frank, Aunt Vicki, Lorne and Brian when Gayle joined them, they would be so happy to see her after all this time. I bet Dad gave Gayle a huge hug. My sympathies and thoughts to all my Weatherall cousins. love Judy Warren xo
