John Watt passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital Bearbrook Residence on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at age 90. John was born September 10, 1932 in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland and grew up not too far away in Allanton. John immigrated to Ottawa, Canada in 1953.  John was a painter by trade and worked for G. T. Greens before settling into a career with Carleton University before retiring. John is survived by his spouse Margaret (née Stewart) and his children: Lynn (Michael) Hinton and Robert (Anne) Watt and his twin sisters Nan (Willie) Steedman and Helen Jardin He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean Hinton, Christopher Hinton, Matthew Hinton and Rebecca Watt and his great grandchildren, Dylan MacNeil and Wyatt Hinton  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

John was an avid sports fan and was a season ticket holder for both the Ottawa Rough Riders and Ottawa 67’s. He especially enjoyed participating in various community golf tournaments in the city and travelling to Toronto to see a Blue Jay game.

Close family and friends are invited to a Celebration of John’s Life at 3029 Quail Run Ave, Ottawa, ON K1T 3S1 on Saturday, April 22nd between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. In memoriam donations to Canadian Cancer Society  are appreciated.
