TAAFFE, Gerald Richard

Gerald Richard Taaffe (born in Chicago) died on March 14, 2019 after an illness at Ottawa General Hospital. His ashes are buried at Hope Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.  Gerald grew up in Chicago and lived most of his life in Canada. He was a published Canadian author, of the novel “Girls of Two Summers” and of numerous literary articles. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Taaffe, and by his children from a previous marriage.

    I knew Gerald for more than 50 years but became closer to him in the last few years of his life. He was a superb gardener, a reciter of poetry, a singer of old favourite songs and a good friend. I will miss him very much.
