Dearest Rita, my sincere condolences for your loss. Rick was a fantastic neighbor, always willing to help out. I will never forget my Bella and Chico playing together, the highlight of our walk. I will also never forget the amazing eggs he used to produce- better than any organic egg! And the time he gave me a boost and on and on…. My life is richer today from knowing him. Rest well my friend

We first met Richard when we bought a shed from his father and Richard came to install it. It wasn’t long after that we had new neighbours on the street, Richard, Rita & Katherina. Our street grew in it’s friendly appeal with Richard around. He knew everyone by name, always ready to share a laugh and a smile, was generous with his time when one of us needed a helping hand on many occasions. Together with Rita he went above and beyond in helping out a neighbour who had fallen ill. He’d love to share his moose or venison with us. Remembering our children’s birthdays or hand delivering Halloween treats to many homes on the street brought him a lot of pleasure. We worked a couple of seasons together at a local golf course, and it wasn’t long before he was well known and well liked. Our golf rounds were always filled with laughter as well. When outside my house I’d be listening from the corner of my ear to hear Chico bark. On many an occasion I would then wander over to his place, maybe have a baileys, have a laugh and a good chat. He had many good stories from the time he lived in Mexico. He’d always ask how each one of us was doing. He wore his love for Rita and Katherina on his sleeve. Our street will never be the same without Rick, and we miss him deeply, but we’ll also be smiling thinking of the ways he enriched our lives. Rest In Peace our friend.

All my sympathies to Rita, Katharina and the family during this difficult time. Rick was a great neighbour, always willing to lend a hand and indulge in conversation over the fence, or in the front having a smoke, or while walking Chico. I will always appreciate him for stepping in and clearing the driveway and cutting the grass when my husband was fighting cancer and unable to do it. Fait un beau voyage, Rick. You will be missed.
