1979-2019
Derek passed suddenly October 29th at the age of 40, leaving behind his loving parents Dennis and Linda of Timmins, Ontario. He leaves in sadness his children, Katelyn, Madison and Logan, and their mother Dana. He will be fondly remembered by his common law partner Caroline Brousseau. Derek is survived by his brothers Jason (Corinne) and Jeff (Joy), nephews Justin and Mathieu and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Derek had a creative mind and had a passion for music and the outdoors. He was known for his quick wit, his sense of humour and his kind and compassionate spirit. A registered nurse, Derek will be remembered by many in the health care field. A gathering to remember Derek will take place at First Memorial Funeral Services, at 259 St. Patrick St., Ottawa, ON. On Sunday November 3rd, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
Very sorry to hear of Dereks passing
I worked with Derek at CsCoop/Alterna
He was a wonderful gentleman and we kept in contact
Over Facebook for many years When he moved back to Ottawa he reached out to me a few times
To go for a coffee but I unfortunately had a lot going on and my work. Consumed my time we never ended up
Going once he met Caroline he was as busy too
I was very shocked and saddened by his loss
I found him to be compassionate funny
And a wonderful human being
He often talked about his mom and how she gave up
Everything so her children could have more
He loved his family very much . He will be missed
he spoke about Dana and the children in their early times together with passion and love.
He was very Happy when he met Carolyn
And was in love again They seamed to be perfect
And she brought out the best n him
Gone too soon You will be missed my friend
Xoxo
I am so sad to hear of the passing of my friend
Derek
I had some personal tragedies at the time of his passing
And did not go on Facebook to see this
I worked with Derek at CS Coop /Alterna Savings
For a few years and reconnected by Facebook
In the past few years
He was a wonderful person very funny and kind
And he told me he wanted to leave banking
To pursue a career where he would be actually helping people and then he Moved and went back to school to become a nurse
I was so proud and happy for him
We stayed connected through Facebook
During his journey with his children and his studies
One day I received a message that he moved back to
Ottawa’s and was going to be working here
He wanted to meet up for coffee but ai never had time
I regret that very much We did however continue
To help each other through some tough times
As we were both going through separation s at the same time. I was happy to see that he made a new
Friend Carolyn and really enjoyed seeing his
Progress with her ,they seemed to be happy
I am truly sorry to hear of his passing
He loved his mom very much and often spoke
Of her to me over the years â¤ï¸God Bless you xo
Heaven received an angel â¤ï¸
Hope you are watching over usðŸ™â¤ï¸
Love you and miss you little buddy
Lorena xoxo
Though I didn’t know Derek well, I had the pleasure to mentor Derek when he first started at the LHIN. He was very bright and compassionate and sincere. What an enormous loss. My heart goes to his family and friends.
Derek was a kind and energetic soul. Full of passion and joy de vivre. Although Derek will be missed at Riverpath, my heat is with his family, his children and close friends. My sincere condolences.
Dana: Sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to the whole family.
