Matthew Albert Brown

Jun 16, 1961 - Feb 14, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Matthew (Matt) Albert Brown on February 14, 2025, in his 64th year.

After a valiant battle, Matt passed peacefully in hospital. Predeceased by his father, Stuart Brown; and his brother from another mother Mike Mahoney (Peggy). Devoted son, to Tineke Brown; cherished brother to Tineke-Laura Heath (Craig); and beloved Uncle and Great-Uncle to Katie (Natasha), Clark and Kohen Heath. Matt had lots of chosen family too many to mention by name.

He will be fondly remembered by his oldest and closest friend Andrew Laundy (Patricia) and his boys Marc and Nicholas; as well as Chantal Ethier and her boys Caleb and Nicholas.

Matt was a long time OC Transpo Driver and resident of Ottawa; he loved his family and friends deeply and was loved deeply by all in return. Matt was a supportive, kind, thoughtful, and generous friend, who never hesitated to show up when needed. His sense of humor was unmatched, and all who knew him have so many funny stories to share.

Matt will be profoundly missed by many people. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion over the last month.

We would also like to thank all of Matt’s friends who supported and visited him while he was in hospital, your visits meant the world to him. A memorial service will be held in the coming weeks. For those wishing, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Queens University would be appreciated.

I’ve known Matt for about three year and became a good friend of mine and use to do Friday night dinners together and hang out. Had good times with Matt and will miss our Friday night pow wows. Matt was an honest and straight forward kind of guy like myself and I think that was what made us good friends. I will miss you Matt and enjoy God’s glory in his kingdom! Your friend always Dave.
