Dec 27, 1945 - Apr 01, 2025
John passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Celsa (née Feliciano) and his twin sister Jean Winters of Toronto. John was a licensed amateur radio operator for over 60 years and, an avid cyclist putting over 100,000 km on his bikes over the span of some 15 years. He grew up in Cornwall but moved to Ottawa to attend university and remained here to pursue a career in High Tech Industries. His wife wishes to thank the Palliative Care Unit at the Ottawa Hospital for the outstanding support she received attending to John and, in particular, expresses deep thanks to Dr. R. Daoud and Nurse Maryann. At John’s request a private interment will take place. An online book of condolences is available at First Memorial Funeral Services.
My deepest condolences to Celsa and all of John’s family.
John you will be very missed, it was always nice to see you riding your bicycle, planting your flowers, doing work around your home and around the whole condominium.
May you rest in peace.
With love,
Jessica and Penny Hotte
John ha sido un extraordinario ser humano. Por parte de la familia Feliciano queremos expresar nuestras condolencias a nuestra tía Celsa un abrazo fuerte y nuestros mejores deseos de paz y fortaleza en estos momentos difíciles.
Celsa, we are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. It seems just like yesterday when we became neighbours with John although it actually was 1986. John and I both liked to cycle but he was more devoted than I was to going further and faster. I will miss our friendly competition as to who got their bicycle out first in the spring and it was always surprising to see what new gadget he had added to his bike or his biking wardrobe over the winter. Over the years, we also spent a fair amount of time together walking our dogs on the hydro right of way behind his house. John also selflessly volunteered for over thirteen years on our condominium board of directors. I had the pleasure of serving along with him for ten of those years. John will be deeply missed every day but our memories of him will never fade.
Dear Celsa,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of John. My thoughts are with you during this time.
