Glorinda Torres

Oct 04, 1961 - Apr 13, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our sister Glorinda “Glo” Torres, on April 13, 2024, at the age of 62. She was the daughter of the late Joao Torres and the late Antonieta Cunha Torres.

She will always be in our hearts and dearly missed forever. As she always said Live Laugh Love.

She leaves to grieve, her beloved husband Paul Juneau, her loving siblings Helena (Lawrence), Joao (Bernadette) and Elvina (Denis), and her stepsons Jason (Tenni) and Davide.

She also leaves behind her brother in-law Philip (Judy), and sister in-law Danielle (Gary) her nephews Sebastien (Marie), Maxime (Vicky), Storm (Simona), Hunter (Mary), Melissa (Matt), Nicolas, Greg (Shannon) and Brianna and many friends that she considered as family.

Some of Glo’s hobbies since retirement have been gardening, meeting friends and family for lunch on a weekly basis and spending time with her dog Aby.

A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the ICU at Montfort Hospital for the exceptional care and support they provided to our sister and to our family at this extremely difficult time.

As per Glo’s wishes a private ceremony will take place at a later date.  Donations in memoriam can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society.

Glo and I worked together for approximately 6 years and she was actually the first person I ever met at Environment Canada, since she was the one who welcomed me (and set me up) when I came to LaSalle in May 2011 for my interview.

And I remember the date, because my son Thomas was 1 month old when I came for the interview, and I brought him (and my husband Regan) along so I could feed him between the various stages of the interview process. I remember feeling so self-conscience to be asking for accommodation, but she was so kind and made it seem like it was nothing. She made me feel quite at ease and I’m sure others would have similar stories.

And then later, when I came to work in the office, I can recall how kind and friendly she was every day (not just potential new staff)! She was a positive and enthusiastic person, who was always looking for ways to help others.

    Glo will be missed.

I worked with her for a long time at Water Survey of Canada. She always had a smile and a great personality. My deepest sympathy.
