It is with sadness that the family of Dan Gimmer announces his peaceful passing at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC following a brief battle with aggressive lung cancer. Predeceased by his parents Mary Gimmer (November 2018), David H. Gimmer (2005) and brother David B. Gimmer (2012). Survived by his siblings Pauline, Melody Smith, Doug (Assunta) and nephews Jeff, Craig, Mike Smith, Jason and Christopher Gimmer.
Thank you from the Gimmer family for your kind thoughts and remembrance of our brother Dan.
I am deeply saddened by Dan’s passing.
My brother Derek and I were privileged to spend many wonderful times with Dan as young kids growing up in Ottawa Nepean. Dan was a fascinating boy growing up. He had the most vivid imagination of anyone I have ever met. He taught us how to have fun as well as to dream. There are too many wonderful stories to tell. One is that Dan built magnificent make believe cities in his parents basement. Play cities that had vehicles, roads, hospitals, houses, stores and factories. Cities that thrived with life. Characters that had names, personalities and interacted with one another just as in real life. Hours and hours of pure joy we will never forget.
Please seek comfort in knowing that Dan’s spirit is fully ingrained in our lives forever. My brother and I truly blessed to have shared his world (together) as friends.
Dan was a great friend, listener and provider of sage advice. Sorry to learn this news.
Pauline & family, we are very sorry to hear of your brother’s passing. Our thoughts are with you.
