Gary Fontaine

Nov 19, 1960 - Aug 21, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gary Leo Fontaine on August 21, 2022 at the age of 61 years.

Born in Shaunavon, on November 19, 1960, Gary spent his early years in Saskatchewan before moving to Ottawa, Ontario with his family.

Predeceased by his mother, Denise Lemire; and, brother, Michael Fontaine, he will be lovingly remembered by his children: Brittany (Deanna) and Zachary Fontaine. He will be dearly missed by his brother, Richard (Colette) and Dan (Nicole); sister, Jeanne (Hervé); as well as by his nieces and friends.

Gary’s love for music, especially Elvis, and Chinese food will be fondly remembered as will his unwavering faith. He saw the good in all things and enjoyed sharing his love and happiness with others.

“Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.” John 16:22

The family would like to thank The Shepherds of Good Hope supportive housing facilities staff for their kindness and compassion over the last few years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church at 455 Montreal, Road, Ottawa followed by a burial at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Those who wish to commemorate his passing are encouraged to make a donation to Diabetes Canada, in lieu of flowers.

Dad, we love you so much more than you ever knew, and you will be achingly missed. Watch over us and continue to guide us, until we see you again.
