It is with profound sadness, but gratefulness for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Estelle Duchesneau at the age of 96. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Herbert Manton and the late Olive Cousineau. Loving wife to the late Jean-Paul Duchesneau.
She leaves in sorrow her children, Marc (Rachelle Charron), Jean and Michel (Jennifer Seligy), as well as her sister Madeleine Dagenais (late Gaston Dagenais). She was predeceased by her daughter Joanne Cuyler (Peter Cuyler), and her siblings Bernard (Lise Germain), Hubert (late Lucille Charron) and Rita (late René Dionne).
She will be sadly missed by her three grandchildren, Angie Choinière (Carl), Paul (Sydney) and Audrey as well as her great grandchild Alex Potvin (Chantal), and her nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Monfort Long-Term Care Home for their dedication and compassion.
A commemorative Mass will be held on Friday September 20, 2024 at 10 AM at Notre-Dame Cathedral on Sussex St in Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montfort Foundation or Monfort Long-Term Care Home.
Our deepest condolences go out to Michel, Jean and Marc, and the entire Duscheneau family and friends. Estelle will remain entwined in our lives, our earlier family gatherings, and the commonality of Judy and I proudly sharing as Audrey’s grandparents (Michel/Jennifer). What stands out so clearly is her good nature, natty attire, rye sense of humour, and ease to laugh, even without a wee glass of red wine with a couple of ice cubes. It’s hard to believe that she has slipped away, but knowing that she is no longer tethered to the challenges of our aging, she is likely very busy as in earlier life, and is now playing non-stop, the Heavenly sport of petange/patong, which she loved so much.
