DAWSON, Wanda Lynn

Oct 13, 2016

Wanda Lynn Dawson (aged 53) was released from her pain and suffering at home surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday the 13th of October.  In April 2014, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer and marched through her treatments with strength, grace and humour.

The youngest child of William (Bing), deceased, and Joy Crosby, she married at a young age and raised two boys who grew into outstanding young men.  After her divorce, she underwent a metamorphosis and returned to school in her mid-40’s.  After earning a College Diploma in Health Information Management, followed by a University Degree in Allied Health Science, she eventually found her dream job contributing to the mission of Trillium Gift of Life Network (Ontario’s organ and tissue donation agency).  She was passionate about butterflies, photography, kayaking and dragon boating.

She will be profoundly missed by her Mom (Joy), her children Joe (Jill) and Dave (Victoria), her sisters, Linda (Leo) and Deb (Donna) and brother Gary (Marie).  She holds a very special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, Tim, Meghann-Leigh (Ryan), Bria-Lynn, Daniel (Taucha), Lisa (Deric), Mathiew (Shannon) and Natasha (Jay).  She will be especially missed by her great nephews, William and Henry and her very precious, first grandchild, Maci Rae.

We would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the compassionate care given by Dr. Tara Tucker and the Central Palliative Care Team.  In lieu of flowers, Wanda’s wish was that donations be made in her memory to Colon Cancer Canada (coloncancercanada.ca/).

A celebration of her life will be held at Greenbelt Church, 839 Shefford Road, Ottawa at 1:00 on Monday, October 24th.  Refreshments will follow the Celebration.
