It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Augusto (Gus) Chiarello. Beloved husband of Vincenza (nee DiBrina) for 33 years. Loving father of Michael and Vanessa . Gus was born in London, Ontario February 23, 1959. He was raised in Oakville and later moved to Sudbury with his parents and siblings where he made his home for over 40 years.
Dear son of Vittorio (Vic) and Gina Bot both predeceased. Dear brother of Carla and Luigi. Missed by many nephews and nieces.
Gus was a loving and devoted husband and father with a generous and gentle heart. He was calm, encouraging, supportive, and always knew what to say to get someone back on their feet and thinking positive again. He was dependable and helped his children in everyway he could, especially his daughter through all her challenges and moves across Ontario and Europe. Gus was extremely proud of his children – his son (Michael) for his high academic achievements and his daughter (Vanessa) for her bravery and never giving up. His little girl (Vanessa) feels his absence most strongly and misses her dad (and teammate) every single day. They had a very special bond, sharing many of the same traits, way of thinking and a deep love for music.
Gus enjoyed reading, WW2 films, the outdoors, driving along the open road, lakeside sunsets, boat rides, his coffee, he loved animals especially dogs, a good home cooked Italian meal with a glass of red wine and his family by his side. He was quite the handyman always busy with a home project . Even though his work kept him on the road, the times spent together on family road trips, Florida vacations, the political debates and funny stories during family dinners and all the silly times he made us laugh will be forever etched in our hearts among countless other memories.
Gus dedicated 45 years of his life to his work for Bot Construction. He was proud, tireless, and passionate about his career as Director of Northern Operations. Gus was well known and respected in the construction industry and played a significant role in the success of the company. His experience was valuable and his accomplishments were many.
There are no words to properly express how much Gus is loved and will be missed. We are truly blessed to have felt his love, warmth, humour and incredible kindness.
Augusto(Gus) will be remembered by his wife and children, leaving a lasting imprint on us always and forever.
As per Augusto’s wishes, a private family service has taken place.
