CHALLENGER, Richard – Passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at the age of 70 at the Laurier Manor. He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years Helen Ferguson. Deeply missed by his children Christopher, Clem (Hildred), Carmen and Simon. Sadly missed by his in-laws; Sally (Wayne Mitchell) and Claudette Richardson. His granddaughter Kiena and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Carmen (nee Peters) Challenger. Cherished sibling of Cornelia (Wayne Smith), Dorothy Challenger, Merle Challenger, Garnet (Debbie Cordick) Challenger, Nazette Challenger, Heaver (Ana Challenger), Bonifest Challenger and Francis Challenger. The family would like to thank all of the staff and nurses on the fourth floor of Laurier Manor for all of their care and compassion towards Richard. Richard will always be remembered for his love and passion for music. A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at 11am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish (400 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa, ON). Interment will take place immediately following the service at Beechwood Cemetery. Reception in the Church hall following the burial. In Memory of Richard donations to the Diabetes Association or to Parkinson’s Canada would be greatly appreciated.
