Andrew Porowski

Apr 26, 1954 - Jun 03, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Andrew “Andy” Porowski on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, at the age of 70. He will be remembered lovingly by his best friend and wife of 37 years, Leslie. He was the devoted and loving father to Tasha and Mitchell-Michael and loving brother to Stan, Tony, John, Maisia and Hania, as well as many dear in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Predeceased by his parents, Kazimierz and Halina. Andy will be missed dearly by all family and friends, and will be remembered for his warmth, never-ending jokes, and devotion to family.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and St. Vincent’s, for their amazing care provided.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Andy’s life on Tuesday, June 11th at 11 AM, hosting a mass service at St. Mary’s Parish, 100 Young Street, Ottawa ON K1Y 3P7.  A reception will follow Andy’s service in the basement of St. Mary’s offering light refreshments.

Wow I’m so sad to hear that Andy has passed. I will always remember him with great fondness. I’ve known the Porowski family since I was a tween when I sang in the Ottawa Central
children’s choir with Tasha and then again went to high school with Tasha. I’ve spent many nights at their hunt club area home, always with a ton of laughter since Andy was always cracking jokes. He took such great care of his family and their friends. I always felt welcome with them. After moving to Vancouver I naturally saw them less but it always felt great to reconnect. I will miss Andy and I am sending a lot of love to Mitch, Leslie, Tasha and their extended family during this difficult time.

On behalf of Nadine and me, I would like to express our deepest condolences to Leslie, Tasha, and Mitchell, and all of Andy’s family. I grew up with the Porowski boys, as much a constant throughout my childhood as anyone, and have many many memories of visiting the Porowski home in Préville, summers in Lac Marois, always treated as one of their family. Andy always seemed to have the wonderful disposition inherited from his dad. We are so very sorry for your loss.
