Aug 15, 2002 - Mar 31, 2025
Andrew David Horgan passed away in an accident in Ottawa on March 31, 2025. He was a brilliant, funny, musical, and caring young man we were lucky to get 22 years with. Andrew was born and grew up in London, Ontario, and he loved living in Ottawa where he’d been on and off since 2020, studying computer science at university and recently working as a proofreader. He explored nature throughout the city and Gatineau and took stunning photos. He was a frequent visitor at the National Gallery and climbing gyms. He talked and played online games daily with his sister, Julia, who is devastated to lose her anchor in life. He also leaves behind the rest of his family who had so much more love to give him: his mother, Karen Lowry, father, David, uncles, aunt, cousins, great aunts and uncles, and grandparents. Cremation and a private ceremony were held. To honour Andrew’s passion for the outdoors, we ask that any memorial donations be made to Ontario Parks or any nature conservancy on the 23rd anniversary of his birth, August 15, 2025.
I am devastated to hear that my cousin Michael’s grandson and Karen and David’s beautiful son has died. My condolences. This is heartbreaking. 💔
Sending you strength. May all of your fond memories of Andrew warm your heart over the coming days. Much love
Andrew’s mom, Karen, shared so many stories of Andrew and his sister, Julia, as they were growing up–she was so proud of Andrew and Julia. My thoughts go out to Andrew’s family. Wishing you and your family strength and peace.
I remember stories of Andrew’s adventures. I remember tales of a precocious preschooler wandering curiously around our child-friendly workplace, asserting his independence and love for exploration at an early age. I remember school-day stories of an incredibly bright boy who was bored by too-easy desk work, but loved to get messy outdoors at recess, coming home soaked and covered in mud – often with his jacket, hat, or mitts gone missing! Most recently, I remember stories about Andrew as a young man, described as “funny, clever, and such a joy to be around.”
I am deeply saddened by this immense loss and send my love.
Oh, Karen and Julia,
When Jennifer-Anne told me about Andrew, I immediately, saw you coming up the steps at the Hill Street apartment helping to carry the treadmill and you were pregnant! The baby turned out to be Andrew. I have cared about your family, over the years and especially now when you have lost Andrew, your son and brother, as you said, ‘way too soon.’ What terrible heartache you both must be experiencing. I have August 15th marked on my calendar and I will grieve along with you that day and will be donating to the Bruce Trail Conservancy as Andrew would have loved hiking in this special place. With Concern and Caring, Helen Meneray
I’m truly sorry to hear this devastating news. I will forever remember Andrew’s gentleness, kindness and love of nature. He was a beautiful soul, gone far too soon. I share in your sorrow and send my love and support.
What a lovely tribute to a kind and gentle soul.
My sincere condolences on this terrible loss. My heart and thoughts are with you.
