Paul Coates

Sep 25, 1970 - Feb 05, 2026

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away at home surrounded by those he cherished most—his wife, children, grandson, and mother-in-law.

He was the devoted husband of Tanya, whose love and partnership were at the heart of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Laurette Coates, and will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Laurie Coates.

A proud and devoted father, he leaves behind his children: Steven (Kendra), Avrial (Abhi), Alijah (Kennedy), Alyssa (Jessie), and Louanne. He was a cherished grandfather to Caleb and Lincoln, and a proud honorary grandfather to Quinn (affectionately known as “Burt”), who held a very special place in his heart.

He is also lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Patricia Allan, his many sisters- and brothers-in-law, and his many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom were important parts of his extended family.

Friendship meant a great deal to him, and he shared enduring bonds with his best friends Sally and Frank, and Joanne and Stephane. He also formed meaningful friendships online, and a special mention is made for his friends on Discord—tbkOwens, R3tro_D, Kompressor, Gohan, and Ryushie—who brought him laughter, connection, and community.

He will be remembered for his love of family, loyalty to his friends, and the quiet strength and kindness he showed to those around him. Though deeply missed, he is now travelling the universe, until the day his beloved wife joins him once more. His love and memory will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
