We are sad to announce the passing of Ruth Hesketh who passed away peacefully at the age of 96. Mom was predeceased by her husband Victor and her son Neil.
Born in Eastbourne, England in 1925 , she was daughter of Charles and Elsie Gibbons
Mom came to Canada in 1954 with her husband Victor who had joined the Canadian Armed Forces. Mom quickly made Canada her home and much to the chagrin of Dad was big fan of the Habs. She worked for Ma Bell in Ottawa in the early days and then when the family moved to Halifax worked as the Mail Room Supervisor at the VG for close to 20 years.
She travelled the world later in life going to Asia, Central Europe, the west coast, even got to Vegas.
Mom always had a sunny disposition and quick wit. She loved sewing and continued to knit well into her eighties . She loved to read great novel or hear a good story. Sunday night suppers when the family all got together were rarely missed and enjoyed by all.
Mom leaves behind her daughters Kay (Howard) Houston Texas,
Ann (Luke) Ottawa and her son Ian (Yvone) Halifax
Mom has 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews in England
Hard to summarize a life well lived, Mom always said “the war changed everything and everyone but you had to , at times grin and bare it, “ . Thanks Mom for all you did. Love you always ❤️
Condolences to the family on the passing of Ruth
Met Ruth at Ian and Yvone’s home and had some very interesting conversations, and a great pleasure knowing her.
Rest In Peace
