It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend,\u00a0Stephen Wilfred Arsenault, who left us on September 26, 2025, at Bruy\u00e8re Palliative Care Hospice, surrounded by love, music, and family.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Born in Ottawa and raised in Aylmer before moving with his family to Prince Edward Island and eventually back to Ottawa, Steve\u2019s passion for music and technology defined his life. A natural genius, he demonstrated his remarkable gift for tinkering at just four years old, when he took apart a transistor radio before dinner\u2014and reassembled it perfectly afterward. His love of rhythm was evident early, too; with pots, pans, and anything that could carry a beat, he gathered neighbourhood children into joyful parades, earning the nickname \u201cThe Pied Piper.\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Music remained Steve\u2019s lifelong calling. A gifted singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, he was also the \u201csound guru\u201d for countless performers, including Hour Glass, Tzar, Jeff Healey, The Family Brown, Liona Boyd, and Dick Maloney, as well as his own band, The HighTech Hillbillies. He proudly supported his father, Wilf, when he was inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame, ensuring every note rang true.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

After moving to Smiths Falls, Steve created a professional home sound studio that became a hub for musicians and artists. It also became the heart of countless family celebrations, especially Christmas gatherings, where his perfectionist\u2019s ear guided singalongs, recordings, and laughter-filled performances. Known for his kindness, patience, and remarkable intelligence, Steve worked alongside others with quiet encouragement until every project reached perfection\u2014whether it was music, a repair, or his signature Greek salad at family potlucks.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Steve also built a respected career as a self-employed videographer and was the ultimate \u201cMr. Fix-It,\u201d always willing to lend his talents to family, friends, and neighbours. He faced his final days as he lived his life\u2014with courage, heart, and humor. His family gathered around him, sharing music, songs, and the silly jokes only they would understand.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Steve will be deeply missed by his parents,\u00a0Kitty and Wilf Arsenault; his sisters,\u00a0Kimberley Arsenault (William Wallace)\u00a0and\u00a0Christine B\u00e9chard (Luc); his son,\u00a0Justin (Taylor); and his stepdaughter,\u00a0Katie Fenton. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who were touched by his music and kindness.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ottawa hospitals, Smiths Falls Hospital, and especially the 5th Floor Palliative Care team at Bruy\u00e8re, led by Dr. Rice, for their extraordinary care and compassion.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Donations in Steve\u2019s memory may be made to\u00a0Bruy\u00e8re Hospice\u00a0or the\u00a0Canadian Cancer Society. A celebration of Steve\u2019s life will be held at a later date.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
